THE READING RIPPLE EFFECT

Utterly profound, shared reading has changed my life.” – Shared Reading training participant

If you are part of an organisation looking to create more engagement in your community, this is just the thing. The Reading Ripple Effect workshop is also a great team/volunteer development activity.

In this interactive workshop, we teach people how to develop/re-develop a love of reading, and how to use their love of reading to connect, delight and inspire others. Anybody can create change using reading and we will give you some simple effective tools for using reading to promote wellbeing.

You will see and experience the wonderful ripple effect produced by the simple act of sharing stories. We let you know simple ways that you can use reading to bring about big changes in your community and teach you how to apply the some of the practices of shared reading to engage and connect with people.

During this workshop you will learn:

  • the evidence base for the positive effects (the ripple effect) of reading literature
  • how reading with people can strengthen connections in communities and prevent social isolation
  • how to find and present stories aloud in a way that engages other people and provokes deeper thought
  • how to approach reluctant readers and create inclusive spaces.
